Seven vehicles burn in same neighborhood
     Snyder firefighters responded to the Delamere Road neighborhood shortly after 4 a.m. Friday, Aug. 8 where a total of seven vehicles were found burning either in the street or in driveways. Amherst Police are investigating. See the full story in the Aug. 13 edition of The Amherst Bee.

Police: fatal accident caused by red light running
      Amherst Police are reporting that a fatal accident at Maple and North Forest roads was caused when a motorist ran a red light. At 7:14 p.m. Friday, Aug. 1, a 2000 Buick sedan driven by Patricia Ware, 58, of Cheektowaga ran a red light at a high rate of speed, according to witnesses.

      The Town of Amherst can be added to the list of municipalities not willing to downsize per the request of Attorney Kevin Gaughan. Gaughan's report, The Cost, was presented throughout Western New York in which he explains that government is too big and too costly.

Council member supported by Amherst Democratic Committee for town clerk
      On July 30, the Amherst Democratic Committee unanimously recommended that Council Member Deborah Bruch Bucki receive the endorsement of the Democratic Party for election to the position of Amherst Town Clerk. The election for a three-year term is necessitated by the retirement of previous Town Clerk Susan Jaros earlier in July.

      The Keeping Amherst Green contest is seeking person(s), groups, clubs, neighborhoods, classes or schools to submit an original idea for a project the Town of Amherst might undertake or employ to keep Amherst green. The idea can relate to recycling, reusing, reducing or redoing and may involve saving water, gas, electricity or oil.

     BE AWARE — Motorists may have noticed the addition of two traffic signs on Glen Avenue in the Village, alerting drivers to pedestrians. The signs direct vehicles to stop when pedestrians are in the crosswalk.
