Man arrested in connection with Amherst burglary
The New York State Police in Lockport have charged Scott A. Stephens, 43, of Lockport, with criminal possession of stolen property in the fourth degree, a class E felony.
On Jan. 24, police said they were alerted by a gun shop owner that Stephens was attempting to sell a stolen Winchester 30/30 rifle, which was reportedly taken during a burglary in Amherst on Jan. 3.
Stephens is also alleged to have sold a stolen Remington 12-gauge shotgun to the same gun shop two days prior, from the same reported burglary.
Stephens was issued an appearance ticket returnable to the Town of Lockport Court for Feb. 14.
