Titans break swim records at invite The Town of Tonawanda Titans sent 15 athletes to the Pittsburgh Invitational meet in Pennsylvania held from Dec. 14 to 16. Swimmers from all over the United States attended the high level meet. Over the course of the three-day meet, eight new Titans club records were set. Six Amherst residents attended the Invitational with the Town of Tonawanda Titans. Lauren Phillips had a stunning meet. Phillips swam United States Eastern Zone qualifying times in the 50, 100 and 200 freestyle, 50 and 100 butterfly, 100 and 200 individual medley, 100 breaststroke, and 100 backstroke. Phillips' weekend peaked with a first place finish in the 100 fly. Emily Kopas had a fantastic meet with United States Eastern Zone qualifying times in the 50, 100 and 200 breast, and 200 back. Kopas made several trips to finals with many top five finishes. Peter McCarthy had an exciting meet with personal best swims in the 100 free and 200 IM. McCarthy topped off a great day with a United States Eastern Zone qualifying time and finals appearance in the 200 fly. Aleza Epstein had a great meet with personal best swims in the 100 free and 50 back. Allison Kopas reached new heights with personal best swims in the 50 fly and 200 IM. The Town of Tonawanda Titans has swimmers training for the Speedo Championships, Junior Nationals, United States Eastern Zones, and numerous other high level meets.
