Striejewske earns Army promotion

Chief Donald N. Striejewske has been selected to become the Chief of Fire Protection, Operations Division, US Army Installation Management Command, Northeast Region, Fort Monroe, Va.

An Eggertsville native, he will be responsible for the overall program management of the fire protection, crash fire rescue and fire prevention programs for 29 U.S. Army installations in the northeast.

He is the fourth generation fire chief in his family history dating back to 1840 and has 230 years of family fire service experience behind him.

Striejewske comes from 78th Air Base Wing, Warner Robins Air Logistics Center, Air Force Materiel Command, Robins Air Force Base, Ga.

He was responsible for providing fire protection services for worldwide logistics support for C-130 and C-5 transport aircraft, F-15 fighters, U-2 reconnaissance aircraft as well as support for remotely piloted vehicles, Air Force helicopters, air-to-air missiles, surface motor vehicles and high-technology airborne electronics, avionics, and electronic warfare requirements.

Prior to being the Fire Chief at Robins AFB Georgia, he was the Fire Chief for the 436th Airlift Wing Fire & Emergency Services Flight, Dover Air Force Base, Del.

Striejewske has been a fire chief for the past 10 years and earned a bachelor's degree in fire administration from Empire State College in 1988. He has more than 28 years of increasing experience working in emergency services. In March 2007, he was re-designated as a "Chief Fire Officer" by the Commission on Chief Fire Officer Designation, one of 507 CFOs worldwide.
