Squeaky Wheel is seeking installation proposals around the

theme of love and sex

for "Peepshow

2008," to be

installed in the

open booths and

spaces of the Broadway Market in February. You must submit a one-page description of your installation, including a description of the project and the equipment you'll need from Squeaky Wheel (projectors, monitors, DVD players, etc.). The deadline is Tuesday, Jan. 22. In addition, provide a copy of your resume. Installation artists will be able to install on Friday, Feb. 8, and all works must be removed by Monday, Feb. 11. • S.S. SHEA'S - Shea's Encore Events will present the new tropical event, "The S.S. Shea's," from 8 p.m. to midnight Saturday, Jan. 12 at Shea's Performing Arts Center, 646 Main St., Buffalo. The event features live entertainment by The Ifs, The Dreadbeats and Pirate Dreams; a free buffet from area restaurants; ping pong tournaments and more. • HELP PICK SONGS FOR NEW CD - Local vocalist Mark Weber is planning to record a CD of cover tunes redone in a pop-jazz-soul vein with pianist Dusty Knapp. Weber has listed 35 songs on www.myspace.com/ thereisahope and is encouraging the public to copy and paste the list into an e-mail, and send their comments and e-mail suggestions to him. • HOLIDAY SCHEDULE - The UB Art Gallery will be closed through Jan. 1 and will reopen Wednesday, Jan. 2. The offices will be open by appointment only during that time.

• PEACE BRIDGE BOOK - The Buffalo and Erie County Historical Society is the exclusive United States distribution point for "Peace Bridge: The Dream and its Evolution" by Mike Cloutier, a book celebrating eight decades of the Peace Bridge between Buffalo and Fort Erie, Ontario. The book is a hardcover coffee table book and is available for $24.95. All proceeds from museum shop sales of the book will go to the Historical Society, 25 Nottingham Court at Elmwood Avenue, Buffalo. For more information, call 873-9644, Ext. 301.

• CALL FOR WORK - CEPA Gallery is seeking submissions for its annual Members' Exhibition, to be held Feb. 9-March 15, 2008. All work can be dropped off at CEPA 10 a.m.-5 p.m. Monday through Friday, or noon-4 p.m. Saturday or mailed between Jan. 7-28. For artists who wish to have their work sent back to them, returns will only be made via U.S. Postal Service or FedEx. Provide postage, FedEx account number or a check to cover the amount for the return. All current, new and renewing members of CEPA can participate. Members can submit only one piece of photo-related art for inclusion. All work should be ready to hang and be labeled with artist's name, title, process, date and sales price. Video and film work is acceptable, but contact CEPA prior to submitting. Select work will be exhibited on CEPA's Web site. Call 856-2717 for more information.
