Student chosen for academic competition in Ohio

Mark Coley, a student at Amherst High School, participated in the Scholarship Competition Day at The University of Findlay (Ohio) on Dec. 1.

Coley was one of only 148 students from around the country invited to compete for merit scholarships worth up to $5,000. High-ability students were selected based on high school grade point average and ACT or SAT scores.

Students completed a written essay and were interviewed by university representatives. Scholarship winners will be announced at a later date.

Coley is the son of Mary Ann and Mark Coley of Amherst. He is involved with the Amherst Youth Court, National Honor Society and orchestra.
