Titans swimmers continue to win at STAR Invitational

The Town of Tonawanda Titans sent 31 athletes to the STAR Swimming Invitational from Dec. 6 to 9.

There were teams from all over the eastern United States with 731 athletes competing. By the end of the four-day meet, the Town of Tonawanda Titans had set two new club records. Eleven Amherst athletes competed for the Titans.

Jacob Hofmar-Glennon had a strong meet with personal best gold-level swims and finals appearances in the 100- and 200-yard backstroke. In addition, Hofmar-Glennon swam U.S. Eastern Zone qualifying times in the 100 and 200 back.

Rebecca Anthone was amazing with personal-best gold-level swims in the 50 breast and 50 free. Leia Federiconi had a fantastic gold-level personal-best swim in the 100 breast. The 100 breast was a U.S. Eastern Zone qualifying time.

Abigail MacDonald was very ambitious with seven individual events and a finals appearance in the 200 back. Consequently, MacDonald's hard work resulted in a U.S. Eastern Zone qualifying time in the 200 back. Claire Battaglia had incredible personal-best swims in the 50 and 100 free.

Alaina Laszewski's personal-best 50 free was inspiring. Emily Kopas was formidable with a personal-best gold-level swim in the 500 free. Aleza Epstein was magnificent with a personal-best gold-level swim in the 50 free.

Peter McCarthy struck gold with a personal-best time in the 500 free. Kara Powalski was a presence in the 100 back. Erin Rogers' 50 and 100 free were impressive.

The Town of Tonawanda Titans were a force to be reckoned with at the STAR Invitational meet. The Titan athletes competed in 57 finals, accruing substantial team points.
