South drops Sweet Home boys from unbeaten ranks

Sweet Home's boys bowling team is no longer undefeated.

Williamsville South edged the Panthers, 4-3, at Transit Lanes. Sweet Home lost the match on total pins by one pin. It was the closest match ever played by a Billies' bowling team.

Alex Petrie had a 626 series and a 247 game, while Russ Scheiss chipped in a 235 and 568 series to lead South. Matt Petrie had a 557 for the Billies "B" team, and anchor Aaron Broardt finished the second game with two strikes and nine pins to earn a Billies' victory by one pin.

High for Sweet Home was Peter Schaefer shooting a 243-596. Jonathan LoPresti shot 205-555 and Shaun Louis was consistent with a 551 set.

The Panthers were on fire in its 6-1 win over Iroquois last Wednesday at Manor II Lanes.

Ryan Kaminski was high, blasting a 754 set, one pin short of the school record. He rolled games of 231, 234 and 289. He is averaging 220 for the season.

Brian Barnas rolled games of 182, 223 and 242 for a 647 set. Captain Aaron Klein was consistent, rolling games of 225, 202 and 196 for a 623 set.

Not far behind Klein was Schaefer with a 622 set with games of 207 and 255. LoPresti had games of 210 and 233 and a 611 set. The "A" team had a 914 series.

Sweet Home improved to 2-1 with a 7-0 win over East on Monday at Transit Lanes.

Schaefer led the Panthers with games of 229 and 201 for a 594 set. Kaminiski had a 204-564 and LoPresti threw a 561 set.

Sweet Home hosts West Seneca East at 4 p.m. on Wednesday at Manor II Lanes.

South's other matches saw them lose 6-1 against Hamburg on Dec. 10 at Legion Lanes and beat Williamsville East, 6-1, on Thursday at Transit Lanes.

Scheiss was high for South against Hamburg with a 610 series. Alex Petrie added a 225.

Scheiss had a high game of 227 and a 639 series, while Alex Petrie added a 211 and 583 series versus East. Justin Maggio was high for the South "B" team with a 507.

Williamsville East boys

The East boys "A" team is, in order: sophomore Dillion Ulrich, senior Joe Shilen, junior James Kim and seventh grader Doug Murphy.

The starting "B" team is freshman Scott Reilly and sophomores Bryan Rainstein, Greg Bukolt and Eric Albee.

In a 5.5-1.5 loss to Iroquois last Wednesday at Lancaster Lanes, the East "A" team bowled an 820 game. Bukolt bowled a 214, Shilen rolled a 228 and Ulrich shot a 212.
