Joseph M. Mercurio, store manager

Joseph M. Mercurio, 87, of Amherst, died on Friday, Dec. 14, 2007 at Rosa Coplon Nursing Facility.

Born in Lockport, Mr. Mercurio was a graduate of Canisius High School. He served with the U.S. Army in the Philippines during World War II.

Mr. Mercurio was a store manager at Tops Markets in Depew. He worked part time for James Desiderio Inc., a company that packages produce for retail supermarkets.

He was an avid follower of the Bills and Yankees and a committed member of St. Michael's Church in Buffalo.

He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Rose A.; one son, Robert; three daughters, Donna Desiderio-Truty, Barbara Russo and Carolyn LoFaso; 13 grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.

Services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, Dec. 19 at St. Michael's Church. Arrangements were made by Amigone Funeral Home.
