Davis earns weekly Liberty League honors

Vassar College's Joe Davis recently earned Liberty League co-Forward of the Week honors for the first time.

Davis, an East Amherst resident and a 2005 St. Joe's Collegiate Institute graduate, recently had a spectacular week for the 7-1 Brewers, scoring a point for every minute of action (61), averaging 15.8 points a game and three rebounds.

He shot .706 from the field (24 for 34) and .750 (12 for 16) from the free-throw line. He scored a career-high 20 points against Southern Vermont and for the week added eight steals and three blocks.

Vassar went 4-0 this past week.

Davis graduated from St. Joe's as the third all-time leading scorer with 1,000 points. He was a three-time Monsignor Martin League selection. He was named All-Western New York as a junior and senior and earned Fifth Team All-State honors those two same years.

As a junior, he helped lead St. Joseph's to the New York Catholic State Championship.
