Outstanding 14 and under athletes dominate Clarence Swim Club performances

As the short-course season works its way into December, swimmers of the Clarence Swim Club have stepped up to the plate and moved forward with their season goals.

In particular, the fourteen and-under have taken a leap from the beginning of the season in their personal goals with times, stroke technique, and meet participation.

At the SHAQ meet mid November, 20 fourteen-and-under of Clarence took on the daunting task of the 500 freestyle races, most for the first time in their swimming careers.

Outstanding swims came from Sydney Modeas, 11, Claire Willis, 12, Kendra Mayer, 12, and Ryan Saenger, 13, who each finished in under 6:13 (an average of less than 1:15 per 100 yards).

Clarence swimmers dominated not only the 500, but many of their personal times as well.

Julia Diebel, 8, dropped an amazing 25 seconds in her 50 breaststroke, and November female swimmer of the month, Karoly Halvachs, 14, dropped eight seconds in her 50 free, and 16 seconds in her 100 free.

The senior swimmers had a chance to be noticed when they traveled to their second-annual meet in Toledo, Ohio. However, the fourteen-and-under again dominated the scene.

Claire Sucharski, 13, dropped a notable 11 seconds in her 200 breaststroke, a personal best. November male swimmer of the month, Charlie Rommel, 14, saw the value of his hard work when he dropped just under 30 seconds in his 500 freestyle and a second or more off of every event.
