Salisbury leads Sacred Heart girls bowling Senior Katie Salisbury is without question Sacred Heart's best bowler. The senior anchor has the third-best average in the Monsignor Martin Association with a 178, 15 pins better than her average as a junior, and has been named to the All-Catholic Second Team for the last three years. Her coach and mother, Ellen, said Katie's improvement has come from making 10-pin spares and rolling more strikes. Katie Salisbury is co-captain with junior leadoff bowler Natalie Wasilewski, a three-year varsity member. The rest of the team is comprised of seniors Sara Melzer (135 average) and Chelsea Dziekan and sophomore Catherine Trzaska. Melzer bowled JV last year. Dziekan and Trzaska are first-year bowlers and rotate in the starting lineup. Through seven games, the Sharks have a 16-12 record. For the team to improve, coach Salisbury said everybody has to bowl good at the same time. "That's been our problem," said coach Salisbury. "We need to be a little more focused." Coach Salisbury said her team also gets along well and encourages each other when one isn't bowling well. The Sharks finished third at All-Catholics last year and fourth in the regular season.
