St. Nick - victim of theft

(Editors note: The Bee's police blotter is a sampling of unusual, sometimes humorous calls received by the police department. It is not intended to be a complete record of all incidents reported.)

Friday, Nov. 30

• A manager of a Main Street business reported finding a cigar case filled with marijuana.

• On Interstate 290, a man reported that he was involved in an accident with another vehicle. While exchanging information, the other person sped off, almost causing another accident.

• A man complained that while his oil was being changed at a Niagara Falls Boulevard lube shop, the employees scratched his vehicle.

• Someone complained about a skunk feasting upon a dead animal in front of a house on Schoelles Road.

• A tree was on fire on Hopkins Road from wires that were blown against it. Several complaints of blowing items and downed wires were reported.

Saturday, Dec. 1

• A female employee at a Sheridan Drive store reported that two men were throwing items at her.

• A white Lexus registered to an Amherst address was found on train tracks near Wig Street. Buffalo police believed someone tried to set fire to the vehicle.

• A child fell out of a shopping cart at a Sheridan Drive store. Emergency personnel responded. The child was transported to Women and Children's Hospital of Buffalo.

• Complaints from a Flint Road hotel involved visiting hockey teams and people running in the halls, being loud and throwing ice. The adults were causing more of a problem than the youths.

Sunday, Dec. 2

• Criminal mischief was reported on Sweet Home Road. It appeared as if a car went through the front door. The only access gained was into the lobby.

• Youths were throwing snowballs at cars on Campbell Boulevard. The complainant was unsure where they were coming from.

• Police responded to Niagara Falls Boulevard because of a fight between two brothers. One reportedly attempted to throw grease on the other.

• Two separate incidents of people throwing bricks through car windows was reported on Niagara Falls Boulevard. The complainant said the suspects were trying to get stereo equipment.

Monday, Dec. 3

• A suspicious blonde female was reported at a hotel on Millersport Highway. She was talking to herself and started breathing heavily. Police reported that her vehicle was out of gas and everything was OK.

• A car parked in Northtowns Professional Park on Transit Road had a window smashed in.

• A student parked at a Main Street school had a car window smashed in.

• The manager of a Niagara Falls Boulevard business reported that one of the employee's friends stole a bike and left it at the front entrance of the store.

• A Niagara Falls Boulevard salon had a bird inside.

Tuesday, Dec. 4

• Police received a 911 call from an Arielle Court residence. The woman said it was a misdial; she was trying to call India.

• A Troy Del Way caller reported that a friend just left the residence to walk to Kenmore. The man who left had reportedly been drinking all day and wasn't dressed appropriately for the weather, but the complainant couldn't give a clothing description. Police located the man at Maple and Forest roads, and a cab was called.

• An Evans Street resident found a purse in the garbage. It was the second time that occurred, and the last time it was three purses. The complainant had heard a noise the night before, and footprints were found in the snow.

• Fire lane "no parking" signs were missing from the front of Target of Niagara Falls Boulevard, which was recently reconstructed. Only large, red balls were in place along the store. The fire inspector was advised.

Wednesday, Dec. 5

• A resident in the apartments across from Target on Transit Road complained that a truck was running and was very loud and emitting fumes. The driver said he ran out of hours and had to remain parked and was running the truck to keep the cab warm. He agreed to move away from the apartments.

• Police were called to a gymnasium on Kings Highway for harassment. A woman allegedly pushed a basketball coach and swore at her. The subject reportedly left when 911 was called.

• An alarm was activated at a Fleetwood Terrace residence. The owner, who is selling the house, never disabled the alarm, and it was set off when the Realtor came to show the house.

Thursday, Dec. 6

• A car owner reported criminal mischief on Niagara Falls Boulevard because the car was keyed. Police reported no mischief; something was written in the snow/dirt on the car.

• Police were called to the Boulevard Mall where Santa Claus had $200 taken. Santa would be at his chair in the food court until his shift ended.

• A customer, who was not happy about his bill, pulled an alarm so police would respond at a store on Niagara Falls Boulevard. The customer left, but the clerk hadn't thought to cancel the call.

• A mom was locked out of her Argyle Avenue house by her 14-month-old child. The dad came home and unlocked the door. Everyone was OK.
