NY Library Association honors former Williamsville school board member

Giambra
Two representatives of the Williamsville School District were recognized at the New York Library Association's 114th annual Conference held in Buffalo in October.

The theme of the conference was "Libraries: Learning for Life." More than 900 librarians, trustees and library school students from around the state attended the conference.

At the conference, Rosina Alaimo, school library media specialist at Maple West Elementary School, was installed as president of the association.

"I look forward to building upon the many successes our organization has already achieved and moving ahead with new initiatives that will better serve all members of the library community," she said.

Carolyn Giambra was the recipient of the President's Lifetime Achievement Award. She is a retired Buffalo City Schools librarian and a former member of the Williamsville School Board.

Giambra was honored with the second President's Lifetime Achievement Award for her many leadership roles in the association, including serving as past treasurer and president.

She was the prime mover in the association's fundraising efforts that raised more than $250,000 to pay off the mortgage on NYLA's office in Albany.
