World AIDS Day to be held at ECC

A World AIDS Day community event will be held from noon to 4 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 15 at Erie Community College, City Campus.

"Women have led the way many times in history," said Monica Brown, manager, HIV/AIDS services for the American Red Cross, Greater Buffalo Chapter. "Let's take control and lead the way in keeping ourselves, our family and our community safe."

The first 20 women who come to the event and receive a free HIV test will receive a $20 Visa gift card.

"The HIV test takes only 20 minutes," Brown said. "Even if you're not one of the first 20 women, you will still receive a gift valued at $10."

Gifts include Mobil Gas cards, McDonald's Burger Bucks and Regal Movie passes.

A free lunch along with inspirational speakers will be offered. Throughout the day, 10 baskets containing a whole frozen chicken with all the trimmings will be raffled. Winners have to be present to collect their baskets.

Questions about the event should be referred to Brown at 878-2394 or Ida Parker at 228-7660.
