Beechwood awarded grant for education center

Beechwood Continuing Care is the recipient of a $25,000 grant through the Senate secured by State Senator Mary Lou Rath, R,C,I - Williamsville, to help Beechwood grow throughout Western New York. The grant helped build an education center to train staff in the principles of resident directed care.

A grand opening of the Education Center was held Nov. 27 at the Beechwood Homes, 2235 Millersport Highway.

"The changing requirements of long-term care providers and recipients need to be addressed. This is why am I proud to have been able to contribute to Beechwood and their 'Welcome Home' culture transformation," Rath said.

The Center will also be used to train students and providers from across the state on how to replicate this model. The 'Welcome Home' initiative strives to constantly develop and train their current and future staff. The goal is for resident directed care to become the norm rather than the exception for the frail elderly of our state.
