Witnesses sought in pedestrian accident, strong-arm robbery The Amherst Police Investigation Unit responded to 5775 Main St., at the intersection of Evans Street, where a pedestrian was struck by a vehicle at 7:26 a.m. Thursday, Nov. 29. A 13-year-old female from Buffalo was hit by a passenger vehicle traveling east on Main Street. The vehicle was operated by Elizabeth Barkley, 25, of Kenmore. Twin City Ambulance transported the 13-year-old to Women and Children's Hospital where she was admitted for hip and leg injuries. Barkley was not hurt. The accident is under investigation by Senior Investigator Kevin Murphy. Anyone who may have witnessed the accident is asked to contact the Amherst Police Department at 689-1311 or 689-1349. Police are also seeking a man suspected of attacking a woman outside of Tops Supermarket at Maple and Transit roads at 10:50 p.m. Sunday. Reportedly the man, described as an 18-year-old white male, approximately 6-feet tall, grabbed the 66-year-old female victim, dragging her to the ground. He reportedly took a ring off of her finger, and her purse, for a total value of more than $5,000. The victim was transported to Millard Fillmore Suburban Hospital for injuries. The suspect left in a four-door tan car, driving north on Transit Road. Anyone with information is asked to call Amherst Police at 689-1340. |
