      Local pediatricians are suggesting that parents avoid using over-the-counter cough and cold medicines for children 6 years old and younger and focus on prevention and alternatives to medicine. Pediatricians have deemed the drugs to be ineffective and dangerous at times.

Suspect stole purse while pretending to aid woman

      Amherst police are looking for a woman who has charged more than $10,000 on a 77-year-old woman's account. According to Detective Lt. Bill Tillman, the victim was dining at the Maple Road Olive Garden at 7:30 p.m. Nov. 11 when she said she noticed a woman watching her.

Robin Road fire caused by problem with dryer
      A fire that occurred about 2 p.m. Saturday at a Robin Road apartment caused $45,000 damage Chief Irv Isenberg, of the Getzville Fire Company, listed the cause as a problem with the dryer. The fire was still being investigated.
