'Bring Home The Headers for the Holidays'
by ROBERT E. KUPCZYK Bee Entertained Associate Editor

Scott Freilich, Bobby Lebel and Dan Stoll give the holiday classics a rockabilly feel on new CD.
'Twas the night before Christmas and all through the house, all the creatures were stirring to the sounds of "Bring Home The Headers for the Holidays," the new CD from the local high-octane rockabilly group.

Just in time for the holiday season, the Christmas songs given a much-needed freshening up. We've all heard these tunes before, but The Headers make them exciting to listen to again.

From the first chords of "Here Comes Santa Claus," the listener is taken on an energetic musical sleigh ride through "Jingle Bells," "Rockin' Around the Christmas Tree," "Winter Wonderland," "Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer" and "Jingle Bell Rock."

Guitarist and lead singer Bobby Lebel sings these songs with emotion to match his guitar playing. He also croons ballads, including "Blue Christmas," the Elvis holiday classic, sung in the style of The King, and "White Christmas."

Lebel's rhythm guitar work is spunky, and his solos frequently incorporate the melody lines of the holiday favorites and also some rip-roaring guitar ornamentation of his own.

Upright bassist Scott Freilich and drummer Dan Stoll hold down the musical snow fort with their solid playing. The musicianship on "Bring Home The Headers" is excel lent.

The instrumental "Joy to the World" is done in surf guitarist Dick Dale style, featuring Lebel playing the jangly melody of the song. If there was a video for this track, I'd guess the The Headers would be snow surfing.

The one original song on the CD, "Bring Home the Headers for the Holidays," is an acoustic tune featuring a band sing-along with lyrics "When you bring home The Headers for the holidays, you'll never spend a holiday alone." Ain't that the truth.
