12U Lady Knights increase record to 5-5-1

The 12U Lady Knights won one game and lost another on Sunday.

Amherst lost their first game 2-1 in a hard-fought battle to Etobicoke.

Caitlin Mitchell scored Amherst's lone goal. She beat the goalie top shelf on a beautiful shot from the point. Etobicoke scored two quick goals to take the lead and never gave it up, beating Amherst, 2-1.

Amherst bounced right back in their second game against Mississauga, beating the Chiefs, 2-1.

Emily Certo opened the scoring. Certo and her linemates, Sam Johnson and Katie Koestner, crashed the net and Certo knocked a rebound past the goaltender.

Toni Warnick scored what later turned out to be the game winner on an assist from Stephanie Pickard on a pretty shot from the top of the circle.

Maddy Utz closed the door on Mississauga with steadfast goaltending and led her team to a 2-1 victory.
