SHOWCASE CHAMPIONS - The Amherst Mite Major "AAA" hockey team was crowned champion of the Detroit Compuware 1999 Showcase tournament which took place on Oct. 28 in Romulus, Mich. Amherst beat the Chesterfield Falcons, 2-1, in overtime, in the final. Amherst lost to the Chesterfield Falcons (Missouri), 6-3, in an earlier game before beating Team Cleveland (Ohio), 7-0; Affton Americans (Missouri), 9-1; 99 Dragons (Michigan), 5-0; and Detroit Compuware (Michigan), 11-0.
