Pee Wee Division Rangers, Penguins tie The Pee Wee Rangers exploded for four goals in 3:11 of the third period to earn a 4-4 tie with the Penguins. Trevor Browning, assisted by John Tomczak, started the comeback from a 2-0 deficit. Defensemen Justin Bystrak, assisted by Greg Sibeck, tied the contest with a high wrist shot. Ranger Andrew Kean answered Greg Weslowski's goal, scoring from a seemingly impossible angle. David Hnat deked through the Penguin defense to give the Rangers their first lead. Joseph Arias tied the game with four minutes left. Opposing goalies Michael Battaglia and Michael Heyden played solid games. Black Sabres double up Flyers The Black Sabres overcame a slow start as they recorded their fourth consecutive victory, defeating the Flyers 8-4, in an Amherst Hockey Association Pee Wee game. After allowing the first two goals, the Sabres netted seven of the next eight goals on their way to victory. Ryan Myers paced the Sabres attack, recording his third hat trick of the season with four goals and an assist. Andrew Neubert chipped in with two goals while Brendan Mazurek and Peter Sinagra each had one Bengart recorded a hat trick for the Flyers while Matt Lesinski picked up their final goal. Undefeated Stars ground Red Wings The Amherst Pee Wee Stars edged the Red Wings, 5-4, in an exciting game on Sunday at the Pepsi Center to improve their record to 4-0. The Red Wings' skaters played inspired hockey through two periods to take a 3-2 lead into the third. Star forwards Nick Noe and Trevor Shaw scored to keep it close. In the third period, the Stars' strong forecheck resulted in three goals. Center Ryan Rego's goal with four minutes to play ended up being the difference in the game. |
