New management revamps Clarence learn-to-swim program

Clarence's learn-to-swim program has a new manager.

Colleen Adams, who has been involved in the swimming community as a swimmer, lifeguard, coach and mentor, is the program's new manager.

She is excited to have the opportunity to take such a large program to new levels.

"The program needs a lot of work," said Adams. "Our focus will be on better training for the coaches, organization and bettered communication. I can't wait to get started."

So why should kids participate in this program?

"Swimming is a life skill," said Adams. "Introducing children to the program gives them the opportunity for introduction of each of the four competitive strokes as well as water safety skills."

The program is for children ages 4 to 18. Each child will be tested on their skills upon entering the program. They can be placed in one of 10 levels that focus on specific skills, each building from the last.

Clarence Learn-to-Swim is connected with the Clarence Swim Club, a competitive club in the Niagara district.

The program is open to any member of the Western New York community. For more information, visit clarenceswimming. com or contact Adams at clarencelearntoswim@ gmail.com.

The learn-to-swim program will begin its program in early January. There is limited availability.
