The Swimkins swim team will host a free introductory to synchronized swimming event from 10 a.m. to noon on Saturday, Dec. 1 at Transit Middle School, 8730 Transit Road. The Buffalo Bills will host a college recruiting night for all high school senior football players from 6:30 to 9 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 4 at the Buffalo Bills Fieldhouse. Several college coaches will be on hand. Parents are encouraged to attend and high school transcripts and game tapes/DVDs should be available. For more information, contact your high school coach.

Celia Alterio, an Amherst resident and Amherst High School graduate, was one of Oneonta State College's top cross country runners this past season.

The freshman posted her best finish at the NCAA Atlantic Regional meet, finishing 49th overall with a time of 23:40 over the 6000-meter course.

Her time at the NCAA Regional is the fastest 6000m time ever run by a Oneonta State freshman.

Amherst's Brenna Symoniak, Williamsville South's Amanda Breymeier and Williamsville North's Mike Thielman competed in the 2007 Checkers/ Runners Roost All-Western New York High School Invitational on Sunday, Nov. 18 at Elma Meadows Golf Course.

In the girls race, Symoniak finished eighth in 21:36.40 and Breymeier was 15th in 22:57. Thielman took 18th in the boys race in 18:18.

The Baguba Wrestling Club will be holding registration for children ages 5 and up - who must be enrolled in school - from 6 to 7 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 28, at the Iroquois High School gymnasium, 2111 Girdle Road in Elma.

Practices will be from 6 to 7:30 p.m. Mondays and Thursdays in the Iroquois High School's wrestling pit. The cost of registration is $65 and all registrants are asked to bring a copy of their birth certificate to the sign-ups.

Medaille College will host a six-week spring training baseball program for players in grades 1 through 12 from Jan. 20 to Feb. 24.

Medaille College head coach Ron Nero will direct the program in conjunction with Midwest Baseball Academy.

Sessions are offered in advanced hitting and pitching at a cost of $99 for six weeks. Space is limited. Registration is now under way.
