Cannizzo to play softball at Canisius

Amanda Cannizzo, a member of Sweet Home's varsity softball team, signed a national letter of intent on Wednesday, Nov. 14 to play softball at Canisius College next year.

The signing took place in the Athletics Office of Sweet Home High School. Cannizzo's parents, Jeff and Mary, coach Scott Martin and AD Chris DeMarco were present for the signing.

This past spring, Cannizzo was an ECIC II first-team and All-Western New York selection.

Some of Cannizzo's other accomplishments include: team MVP for 2006 and 2007, ECIC II First Team (2003-2007), All-Western New York First Team (2006-07), Class A Third Team All-New York State (2006) and Western New York Scholar-Athlete four straight years.

Cannizzo also plays basketball for Sweet Home. She plans on studying biology at Canisius.
