Fisher's Boehm collects weekly honor Allison Boehm, a Sacred Heart Academy graduate and Cheektowaga native, has been selected as St. John Fisher College's Female Athlete of the Week and was also named as the Empire 8 Conference Women's Basketball Player of the Week for the week ending Nov. 25. In a 2-0 week for the Cardinals, the senior guard/forward led the team in scoring (14.5 points), rebounding (9.5 rebounds) and steals (five) over the two games. Boehm also led the Cardinals with 13 assists and turned the ball over just three times over the two-game span. On Tuesday against Buffalo State College, Boehm came up just short of a triple-double, pacing the Cardinals with 17 points, including 7-of-10 shooting from the free-throw line, 10 rebounds and eight assists as Fisher defeated the Bengals, 64-49, in the first road game of the season. Fisher trailed 33-27 at the half but battled back to take the lead for good with 11:57 left. In the second game of the week on Sunday, Fisher defeated Clarkson University, 79-46. Boehm recorded 12 points, nine rebounds, five assists and three steals for the Cardinals, who surged to victory behind a 29-2 run that bridged the halftime break. For the season, Boehm ranks first on the squad with an average 15.5 points, 8.5 rebounds and three assists per contest. She has also tallied seven steals and leads the team with seven three-pointers. |
