Edward A. Russo, 76, of Amherst, died on Friday, Nov. 16, 2007 at the Center for Hospice & Palliative Care in Cheektowaga.
Mr. Russo grew up on the West Side of Buffalo. He graduated from Grover Cleveland High School and served in the U. S. Army from 1952
to 1954, stationed in West Germany.
He worked for Bell Aerospace and Kar Muffler, where he was general manager before starting his own business, HandE Muffler, in Dunkirk.
He was also a school bus driver for Laidlaw and worked for Gray Line Tours as head of customer service until his death.
Mr. Russo wrote "My Memories of the West Side" and "Tony's Son," books about growing up on Buffalo's West Side and serving in the Army.
He was an active member of St. Leo the Great Church for more than 30 years, serving as usher and past president of the Holy Name Society. He enjoyed the arts, especially music, and attended many local concerts.
He is survived by his wife of 53 years, Toni; one son, Ed; two daughters, Deborah Morlock and Karen Ragusa; and three sisters, Josephine Lagattuta, Mary Pistone and Carolyn DiFrancesco.
Services were held on Tuesday, Nov. 20 at St. Leo the Great Church, Amherst.
