Maintenance work on Main Street will affect traffic

Work began Tuesday at Main Street and Youngs Road to clean the stormwater system. State Department of Transportation crews will move west, ending at Interstate 290.

Gary M. Jakubowski, engineer-in-charge, said the shoulder of the road will be closed when work is being done. This will affect traffic and possibly parking. He said it was unknown how long the work would take.

Crews will be on Main Street between 9 a.m. and 3 p.m., starting earlier on some days where parking on Main Street is allowed.

Jakubowski said the work is expected to slow traffic, causing some backup problems. Motorists are advised to use an alternate route if possible.

Signs have been posted along Main Street alerting motorists to the maintenance work.
