Holiday Happening offers family fun

The Amherst Center for Senior Services will hold a kick off to the holiday season for all ages at the Holiday Happening from 4:30 to 7:30 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 5 at the center, 370 John James Audubon Parkway, Amherst.

This family event is open to the public for the admission price of $2 per person and free for children younger than 12.

Live holiday entertainment and activities will be held throughout the event, celebrating the traditions of Christmas and Chanukah.

Children's singer Glenn Colton and the Barroom Buzzards will entertain with the music of the season.

Santa and Mrs. Claus and the elves will also be on hand to help celebrate.

The early winter air can be enjoyed with a horse-drawn wagon ride and the Amherst Youth Engaged in Service group will offer free face-painting and "make & take" holiday craft demonstrations for kids.

Pizza, chicken fingers and soft drinks will be available at an additional cost.

In addition, participants will have the chance to shop for the special people on their list.

Handmade items will be available for purchase at the Center's Dec. 5 Club Sale, such as knitted and quilted items and cards, made by our organizations and sold to benefit the center. The Senior Center's Gift Shop also features a wide assortment of gifts, including toys, baby items, collectibles and cards for your holiday shopping.

Call the center at 633-3059.
