Tornadoes upset Blues, 6-4
Buffalo In-Line Hockey Group

The Blues, led by reigning perennial all-star Pat Smith (Amherst) walked into the rink on Saturday having won all eight games they played this season and sitting on top of the Buffalo In-line Hockey Group Major division.

The Tornadoes, having an up and down season so far, forgot to read the Blue's press clippings. With contributions from each of its players and led by player of the week Edgar Rosario, the Tornadoes pulled off the upset by a 6-4 count. Nick Shearer (Kenmore) in net and Luke Pronti were major factors in the win.

In other Major division action:

Lightning 8, Vikings 7

John Lyons (Amherst) scored the game winner with 1:40 left. The Lightning have a three-game win streak. David Campuzano had three goals and three assists for the Vikings.

Blackhawks 15, Snipers 6

Justin Swan (Tonawanda) led the offensive side and Adam Rainey (Tonawanda) the defensive side as the Hawks continued their recent offensive flurry to move into third.

Killer Pandas 9, Snipers 4

Zac Carslisle (Tonawanda) scored four times to keep the Pandas in second place. Brad Owens had a hat trick for the Snipers.

Junior division

Cougars 8, Junior Blues 7

This game went to a shootout as the Blues overcame a three-goal third period deficit to draw even.

Evan Dressel (Amherst), who had the overtime winner, had help from PJ Anders (Amherst) to offset strong games from Nick Antoniadas (Amherst) and Vicram Goel (Amherst).

Knights 9, Ghosts 4

Kevin Eberth (Cheektowaga) leads the junior division in goals and it was more of the same as he added six more. Zac Wieand (Amherst) helped him out.

After nine weeks, the Major Blues and Cougars sit on top of their respective divisions.

The regular season takes a week hiatus as BIHG hosts an Iron Man Tournament with proceeds going to "Skate for the Cure". Play begins at 8 a.m. on Saturday, Nov. 24. It is a single elimination tournament. The cost is $20 per player. Goaltenders are $10. Registration ends Nov. 21. For more information, call Rich at 689-4090 or 773-1188.
