Marie Z. Strobel, retired assistant bank manager

Marie Z. Strobel, 83, of Williamsville, died on Friday, Nov. 16, 2007 at the Center for Hospice and Palliative Care in Cheektowaga.

Born in Buffalo, she graduated from East High School.

She had a career in banking for more than 44 years. She was assistant branch manager at the former Liberty National Bank, retiring in 1986.

Mrs. Strobel volunteered with Meals on Wheels for more than 20 years, and was an active member of SS. Peter & Paul Church, serving as a Eucharistic minister, taking communion to homebound parishioners and helping count Sunday collections. She was a member of the church's St. Ann Sodality and crocheted prayer shawls. She was also a member of the ladies auxiliary of the Francis J. Donovan American Legion Post 1626 and the Knob Hill Seniors.

Mrs. Strobel, was predeceased by her husband, Otto R. She is survived by one son, Peter; two daughters, Suzanne M. Haumesser and Kathryn A. Bernfield; one brother, William Ziegler; and three grandchildren.

Services were held on Monday, Nov. 19 at SS. Peter & Paul Church, Williamsville. Arrangements were made by Beach-Tuyn Funeral Home, Williamsville.
