Marjorie Elaine Skarin, 78, of Williamsville, formerly of Kenmore, died on Thursday, Nov. 15, 2007 at Hospice of Western New York.
Born in Buffalo, she received associate degrees in accounting and secretarial science from Fulton Montgomery Community College, a Bachelor of Science degree in business education from the University at Albany in 1976, and a Master of Science degree in education from the University at Albany in 1980.
Mrs. Skarin taught accounting, introduction to finance and secretarial sciences at Fulton-Montgomery Community College from 1976 to 1980, and business and related courses at Erie Community College for several years.
She was a longtime member of the Amherst Senior Center Quilting Club, acting as treasurer for more than 10 years. She enjoyed gardening, handwork, needlepoint, quilting and spending time with her grandchildren.
Mrs. Skarin was predeceased by her husband, Richard B., and one daughter, Freya E. Mellander. She is survived by two daughters, Kathleen A. Kuritzky, of Snyder, and Dr. Amy M. Sands, of Williamsville; two sisters, Anna Marie Pistner, of the Town of Tonawanda, and Phyllis Lavenau, of Leesburg, Fla.; six grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
Services will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Nov. 21 at the Amigone Funeral Home, 5200 Sheridan Drive, Williamsville.
