Couple wed at historic Middleton Place Plantation

Laura Kathryn Drum married Joshua Robert Wopperer in an evening ceremony on Saturday, Sept. 22, 2007 near the almost 1,000-year-old oak tree at historic Middleton Place Plantation in Charleston, S.C. The Rev. Mac Hammett officiated.
The bride is the daughter of Dorea and Tommy Drum of Lincolnton, N.C. The groom is the son of Natalie and Robert Wopperer of Buffalo, formerly of Williamsville.
The bride was escorted by her father.
She wore a Monique Lhuillier fitted silk charmeuse slip gown with a soft white Alencon overlay, V-scalloped neckline and plunging V-back. Her cathedral-length veil was trimmed with matching soft white Alencon lace. She carried a Biedermeier-style bouquet including porcelain roses, gold calla lilies, copper orchids, tuberoses and green dendro orchids tied with a satin ribbon and the lace handkerchief she wore as a bonnet for her christening.
The maid of honor was Tracey Wopperer, sister of the groom. The bridesmaids were Brooke McGuire and Carly and Emily Mullins, friends of the bride.
The best man was Robert Wopperer, father of the groom. The groomsmen were Jason McWilliams, James Irvin and Scott Teague, friends of the groom.
A reception was held in the garden pavilion at the Middleton Place Plantation.
The couple are at home in Charlotte, N.C., after a honeymoon in Playa Del Carmen, Mexico.
