Katee Steffek and Karl Kurz

Sharon and Steven Steffek of Simi Valley, Calif., announce the engagement of their daughter, Katee Steffek, to Karl Kurz, son of Marilyn Kurz of Cheektowaga and the late Richard Kurz.

The bride graduated from Royal High School in 1996. She earned a bachelor's degree in chemistry from Boston College in 2000. She is a sales associate.

Her fiance graduated from Maryvale High School in 1997. He earned a bachelor's degree in science in 2002 and a master's degree in education in 2006, both from Buffalo State College. He is a high school teacher.

An August 2008 wedding is planned.
