Wilson Farms honored by two community foundations Wilson Farms Inc. was recently honored by two community foundations for their partnerships. The Meals on Wheels Foundation recognized Wilson Farms with its 2007 "Friend of the Community Award" while Hospice Buffalo named the Nanula Family and Wilson Farms as "Hope, Care, and Dignity Award" recipient. Wilson Farms most recently supported the Meals on Wheels Foundation with its "Step Up to the Plate" program, which raised more than $30,000 by selling paper plates in its stores. During the past three years, Wilson Farms has collected $100,000 for the foundation. Nick Gallegos, vice president of sales and marketing, accepted the award at the "Plate Expectations" dinner held in downtown Buffalo. For the second consecutive year, Wilson Farms partnered with Hospice Buffalo and other Hospice Foundations across the state to raise $34,000 through the selling of paper sunflowers during the foundation's "Sunflower Days." Wilson Farms Chairman of the Board Savino Nanula and his wife, Virginia, were recognized for their efforts as they both continue to serve Hospice Buffalo as active volunteers; Virginia is a foundation trustee. The Nanula family accepted the award at Hospice's "Harvest Festival." "As a locally-owned and operated company, Wilson Farms is proud to give back to the communities we work and live in," said Paul Nanula, Wilson Farms president and chief executive officer. "We are thrilled to receive these awards and are honored to be partners with worthy organizations like Hospice Buffalo and Meals on Wheels." |
