Penberthy, Heyden lift Rangers over Red Wings

Tyler Penberthy's hat trick and sparkling goaltending by Michael Heyden led the Pee Wee Rangers to a 5-2 opening-game victory over the Red Wings.

Penberthy opened the scoring in the first period, knocking a slap shot in off a Red Wing defender. The Wings evened the score 11 seconds later as Jake Alessandra beat Heyden.

Lucas Kindron knocked in a rebound of a Penberthy shot to give the Rangers the lead for good, assisted by John Tomczak.

Penberthy then scored twice in seven seconds to widen the Ranger lead to 4-1 before John Huyler finished the Rangers' scoring.
