105-pound Army Freshman win Jones Cup

The 105-pound Williamsville Army Freshman beat Air Force, 31-7, to win the Jones Cup in Williamsville Junior Football.
Running back Mike Kennehan opened the scoring on a 2-yard run and Dennis Gilbert followed with Army's only successful PAT of the game. Quarterback Adam Dentico plunged into the end zone from 1-yard out to make it 13-0. Kennehan had a 65-yard TD called back on a holding call but Gilbert took the next snap 75 yards to pay dirt after reversing the field when Air Force appeared to have him stopped.
Running back Scotty Stone scampered 44 yards on Army's first possession of the second half. Gilbert closed Army's scoring after scooping up a fumble caused by a big hit from Kennehan and racing 62 yards. Air Force running back Donata Sparcino plunged in from the 1-yard line on a fourth down to break the Army shutout.
The Army offensive line of Robby Zabel, Quinn Keenan, Nathan Halter, Andrew Miske, Nick Peters, Chad Steinwachs, Noah Milling and Jacob Huber opened big holes. Anthony Siragusa and Matthew McDowell led the way on some great sweeps.
Defensively, Zack Kelly, Sean Spada, Ryan Downing, Danyal Cappuzzello, Miles Young and Jacob Schoelkopf kept the Air Force out of the end zone until late. Jeff Simet, Brian Zackey, Joe Phillipps and Nick Iacono kept Air Force from breaking any long runs.
The Army advanced to the championship game after beating the Commandos, 18-0.
Gilbert ran 69 yards to score the first touchdown. Keenehan rushed 24 yards and Stone rushed 11 yards for touchdowns. Gilbert and Keenehan had two huge interceptions; Keenehan had a fumble recovery. Steinwachs had eight tackles in the game and Kelly made some great plays on defense to keep the Commandos from getting in the end zone.
