Marlette vows to bring new ideas

I wanted to take this opportunity to thank the voters and residents of Amherst for their support this past Tuesday in the general election.

I am very excited to have been elected to serve the Town of Amherst as a councilmember on the Town Board. I look forward to working with the supervisor and all members of the Town Board in bringing civility and communication back to the residents.

I believe that as a team we can focus on reducing the expense side of the budget by engaging our upstanding department heads and employees in finding cost-saving measures that will not impact our ability to deliver the quality services that you have come to expect. This can be accomplished through creative leadership and creative thinking.

While there are numerous issues that are before the Town Board and certainly more to come, you can be assured that I will take the time to study and research the issues. As elected officials, we must look at not only the immediate impact but also the long-term impact that a decision has on the future of the town and its residents.
