Philip J. Rooss, retired health care administrator for the NYS Department of Health

Philip J. Rooss, 55, of Amherst, died on Sunday, Oct. 28, 2007 at Roswell Park Cancer Institute.

Born in Buffalo, he was a graduate of Columbia High School in East Greenbush, N.Y., and Ithaca College and also attended George Washington University.

Mr. Rooss was health care administrator of the New York State Department of Health for 28 years.

A sports enthusiast, he was a fan of the San Francisco Giants and the Buffalo Bills. He also enjoyed jogging.

Mr. Rooss is survived by his wife, Patricia; one son, Philip A. III; one brother, Peter G.; and one sister, Lisa Buskell.

Services will be held at 4 p.m. on Saturday, Nov. 10 at Calvary Episcopal Church, 20 Milton St., Williamsville.
