VMW to offer free membership

Veterans of Modern Warfare, a new veterans' service organization dedicated to serving the nation's most recent veterans, is offering free membership until Jan. 1, 2008.

The purpose of the organization is to support veterans and their families by providing education and information about benefits earned, assistance in obtaining benefits and advocacy in issues.

Membership in VMW is open to current active-duty service members, National Guard, Reserve and Coast Guard service members and any veteran of the U.S. armed forces who has served since Aug. 2, 1990.

Locally, the VMW Chapter 7 meets at 57 Main St., Tonawanda, sharing space with the Vietnam Veterans of America Chapter 77.
