A symphonic finish

The Buffalo Philharmonic Orchestra will conduct some unfinished business when it performs a "completed" version of Franz Schubert's Symphony No. 8, better known as the "Unfinished Symphony," Friday through Sunday at Kleinhans Music Hal l.

Under the baton of JoAnn Falletta, the mystery of the composer's exquisite "Unfinished Symphony" is explored in this version by Schubert scholar Brian Newbould and conductor Mario Venzago.

The program will also include Schubert's venerable Symphony in D minor, "Death and the Maiden," based on a story about a bride-to-be who must first sleep with death to save her belov ed.

Performances will be at 10:15 a.m. Friday, Nov. 9, 8 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 10, and 2:30 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 11. The performances will be recorded live and will be used for a future commercial release. Kleinhans Music Hall is located at Symphony Circle at Richmond Avenue. For tickets, call 885-5000.
