One young man has proven himself among students in Western New York.
Fifth-grader Matthias Williams of Amherst was recently named a 2007 Harbourton Scholar at Nichols School.
The Harbourton Scholars Program, funded by Jay and Amy Regan, provides need-based financial aid to fund tuition costs of qualified applicants who would be unable to attend Nichols without such assistance. Jay Regan, a Nichols class of 1960 graduate and Buffalo native, currently resides in Princeton, N.J.
"I've seen this year's Harbourton Scholars and they are amazing in their diversity - all great academic students with integrity and a variety of interests and talents," Regan said. "These students will truly get an exceptional education at Nichols."
Harbourton Scholars are selected from a broad pool of qualified Western New York students. Beyond financial need, Harbourton Scholars are chosen based primarily on academic promise and character.
