Chiropractic office supports Buffalo shelter

Do you have room for one more gift on your shopping list? Consider adding a present for Cornerstone Manor.

Donations of pajamas, gift baskets and money are needed for the facility in Buffalo that houses women and children.

"Cornerstone Manor is dedicated to restoring hope to the women and children they serve through a variety of programs and services offered at the shelter," said Dr. Alison Cummings of Inner Balance Chiropractic.

Her office is collecting donations for the fifth consecutive year.

Donations will be accepted throughout November at the office, 2800 Sweet Home Road, Suite 1, at the corner of North French Road.

Cummings said pajamas, in women and youth sizes, must be new, and the baskets can be filled with speciality lotions, makeup and other gifts.

"The response has been great; our existing patients have already donated quite a bit this year," she said.

Cummings added that Cornerstone Manor was chosen as the beneficiary because of its efforts to fulfill women and children's needs.

"We emphasize that a lot in our own office; it was a natural fit," she said.

Dr. Lora Warkentin, an Amherst resident, is the current director of Cornerstone and has been working on its mission for more than 10 years.

Donations will be accepted from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday, Wednesday and Friday; 3 to 6 p.m. Tuesday; and 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Thursday.
