Commandos blank Sweet Home The 105-pound Williamsville Commandos football team began its playoff run with a 26-0 victory over the Sweet Home Panthers in the driving rain this past Saturday. Defensive standout George Bauman anchored the line which shut down the Panthers all afternoon. He was joined by fellow captain Luis Cervantes and William Sanderson, who helped keep Sweet Home out of the end zone. Holes were opened for the Commandos' running backs by linemen Ben Clark, Andrew Cleary, Eric Seaner, Stephen Salem and offensive MVP Jordan Buell. Tailback Ben Noel scored three touchdowns and fullback Ryan Konotopskyj added the fourth. Army 6, Bulldogs 0 Willamsville Jr. Army finished its season Saturday on a winning note, handling the Clarence Bulldogs, 6-0. It was the Army's fifth shutout win on the season, giving them a 6-2 record. The Army moved the ball down the field with ease on their first drive, finishing it off with a 15-yard Conner Kelly touchdown run. Army's dominant defense again shut down the opposition, holding them to only a handful of yards for the whole game. The Army played on Tuesday; a win would move them to the championship game on Saturday. |
