Junior Blues turn the corner

The Junior Blues of the Buffalo In-line Hockey Group had been floundering, losing three in a row and looking disorganized in the process.

Last Saturday, a new system was installed and it appears that they may have found something. Every player on the Junior Blues roster had at least one point. Vicram Goel and Nick Antoniadis (Amherst) each had a hat trick and Jason Bialkowski was in net for a 9-0 romp over the Ghosts.

In other Junior division action:

Storm 10, Knights 7 Christian Curtola (Amherst) had a double hat trick and Adam Terragnolli had four goals for the Storm, which earned its first win this season.

Cougars 7, Capitals 4

The Capitals rode a three-game win streak into this game but the Cougars had not lost all year and saw no reason to start. Evan Dressel led the effort with three scores while Tim Rinaldi (Clarence) had three goals for the Capitals.

Major Division

Vikings 5, Snipers 4

The Island connection of David Campuzano and Jake Bass led the way for the aptly named Vikings. Campuzano's three goals and Bass' three assists were too much for the Snipers.

Killer Pandas 8, Lightning 5

The three big Pandas - Taylor Setlock (Tonawanda), Zac Carslisle (Tonawanda) and Evan Dressel (Amherst) - once again had strong efforts to earn this win. Calvin Waley (Cheektowaga) responded with a hat trick for the Lightning.

Blues 16, Warriors 2

The division-leading Blues seemingly can't be stopped as they continued their surge, getting 10 goals combined from Pat Smith

Amherst) and Josh Grant (Kenmore).

Tornadoes 6, Warriors 3

This was a tight game until a Ryan Okon (Lancaster) led third period outburst put the game away.

Derrick Laviollet (Cheektowaga) was strong for the Warriors.

After six weeks, the Major Blues and Cougars sit on top of their respective divisions with perfect 6-0 records.
