Dr. Desirae M. McKee has joined the Excelsior Orthopaedics physician practice in Amherst. She has experience in upper extremity and hand surgery and burn care. She will practice at the Amherst and Orchard Park offices. She recently completed a plastic/orthopaedic hand surgery fellowship at the University of Virginia.
Richard Szymanski of Getzville was named Holy Name Man of the Year at the Diocesan Union of Holy Name Societies' annual ceremony on Oct. 14. A parishioner at St. Pius X Parish in Getzville, he has served on the executive board of the parish society, is a past president, and also serves as an usher.
Asal Nassir of East Amherst has been named a financial representative at Williamsville-based The Compass Group of Upstate New York, a general agency of New England Financial. She is currently working toward her Bachelor's of Science degree in legal studies from the University at Buffalo. Formerly she worked as an insurance agent at Aflac.
Rosina Alaimo, school library media specialist at Maple West Elementary School, was installed as president of the the New York Library Association. She has been a school librarian since 1989 and is active in the American Library Association.

Michael C. O'Neillof Snyder has joined Hodgson Russ LLP as a partner in the Insurance & Reinsurance Practice Group. He concentrates his practice in insurance coverage and liability defense. Before joining Hodgson Russ, O'Neill worked as a trial and coverage attorney in Buffalo for seven years and practiced for nine years in Chicago.
Theresa M. Lorenz of Williamsville has been promoted to director of production services for Gelia Wells & Mohr, headquartered in Clarence. She will oversee quality assurance for all client materials produced by the agency. She joined Gelia six years ago as production manager.
