A seductive moon

The Irish Classical Theatre opens Eugene O'Neill's "A Moon for the Misbegotten" on Friday. The production features Brian Riggs, Gerry Maher and Catherine Eaton.
Eugene O'Neill's beautiful and haunting gift to his tortured brother, Jamie, comes to the Irish Classical Theatre when "A Moon for the Misbegotten" opens Friday, Nov. 2.

ICTC presents the second play in its five-year Eugene O'Neill retrospective. "A Moon for the Misbegotten" continues the tale of the four Tyrones begun in the playwright's "Long Day's Journey Into Night." Concerned that his broken-down farm will be sold out from under him, old Phil Hogan and his daughter, Josie, devise a plan to seduce the landlord, Jim Tyrone.

This intrigue merely provides the background to a searing drama in which two misbegotten people, who under the moonlight, confront the aching truth of their lonely existence.

"A Moon for the Misbegotten" is directed by Brother Augustine Towey and features Brian Riggs as James Tyrone, Catherine Eaton as Josie Hogan, Gerry Maher as Phil Hogan, Tim Eimiller as Mike Hogan and Lawrence Rowswell as T. Steadman Harder.

Opening night performance is at 8 p.m. Friday, Nov. 2. Performances continue at 7:30 p.m. Thursdays and Fridays, 2 and 7:30 p.m. Saturdays and 2 p.m. Sundays through Dec. 2. There will be no performance on Thanksgiving, Thursday, Nov. 22.

Tickets range from $37 to $42, and $32 to $35 for seniors. Students under 25 with a valid ID can purchase tickets at the box office for $15 one hour prior to curtain. There will be a pay-as-you-can matinee performance at 2 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 2. For tickets, call 853-4282.
