CHC center students create natural works of art

Indira Clark, 6, a student CHC Learning Center displays her painting of a loon at the Reinstein Woods Nature Preserve. The magazine photo next to the bird was her guide for the painting.
CHC Learning Center recently held its first nature art show.

Held at the Reinstein Woods Nature Preserve, in Cheektowaga, the show featured paintings by the students. The artists were asked to pick out a magazine picture depicting wildlife or natural scenes. Using a variety of natural paint brushes such as feathers, pine cones, chestnut shells, acorns, and flowers, the students created their own interpretation of the picture they had chosen.

Teachers Gina Patrone, Donna Michael, and Kristen McVay, along with the staff at Reinstein Woods assisted the students. The pieces were on display in October as part of National Disability Awareness Month.
