Hunt Real Estate is renaming its mortgage division and relocating it from Williamsville to the former M&T Bank building near the corner of Central Avenue and Broadway in Lancaster.
Devere Mortgage Corp. has taken the Hunt name to become Hunt Mortgage and will mark the opening of its new office at 5400 Broadway on Dec. 1.
Devere, which has been open since 1984 at 105 Earhart Drive, is a name within the Hunt family tree, but President Linda Mallia said since the company is owned by the same family that owns Hunt Real Estate, taking the more familiar name made sense.
"We've just come kind of full circle," she said.
The Lancaster building could allow Hunt Mortgage to expand, Mallia said.
"We've outgrown this current building," she said. "The (Lancaster) building is double this building."
Peter F. Hunt, chairman and chief executive officer of Hunt Real Estate, said the new location is centrally located for all of Hunt's offices from the Buffalo area to Syracuse. He added the company chose Lancaster because the community is growing, making it an integral part of the Western New York real estate market.
"It's a very stable, yet growing part of our overall community," he said.
Hunt Real Estate has 23 offices across Western New York, and each office is assigned a licensed loan officer from Hunt Mortgage.
While the address is changing, the phone number will remain 633-3700. Office hours will be from 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday to Friday, or anytime by appointment.
