SS. Peter and Paul lose meet SS. Peter and Paul's swim meet against St. Gregory the Great ended with a loss yesterday morning at Sweet Home High School. SS. Peter and Paul lost several events by less than a second. The 11 and up division was no match for St. Greg's powerful Munroe siblings, who took first place in all but two events. SS. Peter & Paul did rack up points with Rachel Kuechle taking first in the 50-yard butterfly and third in the 200 medley. Kathleen Ruggiero took a close second in the 200 freestyle. More points were added with third place wins by Rachael Nasca, Clare Costello, Samantha Basile and Allyson Costanza. Both relays of Ruggerio, Fields, Basile and Kuechle took third. 9-10 An exciting win in the 100 medley resulted in Marissa Olsen taking first, and Matt Ruggerio placing second by less than half a second. Peter Weimer also put some excitement into the meet by taking first in the 50 breast, winning by a half of a second. Lauren Shine, Katie Colson, Alexandra Sommer, and Jason Brick added second and third places. The medley relay of Olsen, Weimer, Ruggiero and Brick let first place slip by a half a second. The free relay of Ruggiero, Shine, Colson and Brick took a close second with their finish also determined by a half a second. 8 and under Short a few swimmers, the team swam their best with Mark Venditti winning the 50 back. Charles Weimer swam to second in the 100 medley with Venditti taking second in the 25 free. Third place points were brought in by Weimer, Jessica Shine, Claire Noe and Travis Porterfield. Both relay teams took third. The medley relay consisted of Venditti, Weimer, Ivan Nietopski and Jacob Barberio; the free relay had Shine, Porterfield, Nietopski and Sean Murphy. |
